BAGHDAD, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Iraq's Foreign Ministry said on Sunday it welcomes the signing of a border demarcation agreement between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
In a statement, the ministry said the agreement was an important step toward enhancing regional stability, underscoring that it reflects the two countries' commitment to resolving disputes through peaceful means and constructive dialogue.
The ministry praised the diplomatic efforts of both nations, noting that the agreement will contribute to achieving sustainable development and enhancing common security.
On Thursday, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and his Kyrgyz counterpart, Sadyr Japarov, signed an agreement on the delimitation and demarcation of their two countries' shared border in Bishkek.
The Tajik-Kyrgyz border has remained closed following a border conflict in May 2021. Enditem
