SINGAPORE, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Business sentiment among local firms in Singapore remained positive but eased slightly for the upcoming second quarter of 2025, following six consecutive quarters of improvement since the fourth quarter of 2023, the company Singapore Commercial Credit Bureau said on Tuesday.

The Business Optimism Index slipped from +5.45 percentage points for the first quarter to +5.20 percentage points for the second quarter, according to the company's latest report.

Among six key indicators, selling prices and employment levels showed improvement compared to the first quarter, while volume of sales, net profits, new orders, and inventory levels declined.

By sector, financial services and construction are the most optimistic.

Audrey Chia, chief executive officer of the company, noted that uncertainties in major economies, including the United States, may dampen growth prospects in the near term.

"Despite these uncertainties, there are still bright spots within certain sectors," she said. "The strong demand within financial and services and a healthy pipeline of projects within the construction sector are likely to provide continued growth support in the coming months." Enditem
