YANGON, March 18 (Xinhua) -- As temperatures rise across Myanmar, the Ministry of Health has issued preventive and safety guidelines for the public, according to a statement released by the ministry on Tuesday.

The ministry advised people to stay in shaded and cool areas, wear loose clothing that covers hands, neck and arms, use umbrellas and hats when going outside in the afternoon, and stay hydrated, the statement said.

It warned against direct sun exposure between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., engaging in strenuous physical activities under intense sunlight, taking an immediate shower after returning from high temperatures, and moving suddenly between extreme hot and cold environments.

According to the country's Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, temperatures in many cities and towns in the country exceeded 40 degrees Celsius on Monday, with Chauk reaching 44 degrees Celsius, Magway 42.5 degrees Celsius, and Nyaung U 41.8 degrees Celsius. Enditem
