RAMALLAH, March 18 (Xinhua) -- The Palestinian presidency on Tuesday condemned Israel's resumption of attacks on the Gaza Strip, calling on the international community and the U.S. administration to halt it.

In a statement published by the official news agency WAFA, Palestinian Presidency Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh said Israel's killings demonstrate its attempt to undermine all efforts made by the international community to maintain calm and achieve security and stability in the region.

The statement reiterated the call for the international community to compel Israel to halt its "aggression" against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

Israel carried out deadly bombardments across Gaza early Tuesday, killing more than 400 people, and vowed to intensify the assault if Hamas did not release the remaining hostages held in the enclave. Enditem
