SINGAPORE, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Electric vehicles (EVs) made up a record 43 percent of new car registrations in Singapore in February, rising from 32 percent a year ago, according to the Land Transport Authority Wednesday.
For the first time, EV registrations have surpassed hybrid cars, which accounted for 39 percent of new car registrations.
Singapore now has more than 19,000 EV charging points, nearly half of which are publicly accessible, the department noted.
The city-state has been actively promoting EV adoption. Earlier this month, Singapore announced new grants to support owners of zero-tailpipe emission heavy vehicles and plans to expand the charging network for electric heavy vehicles to boost decarbonization. Enditem
