KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, March 19 (Xinhua) -- At least four commuters lost their lives due to a road accident in southern Afghanistan's Kandahar province on Wednesday, a local official said.

The tragic incident took place when a fielder collided with fuel tankers on the outskirts of Daman district of the province, claiming the lives of four passengers aboard the fielder on the spot, said Mullah Nasruddin Bashir, the provincial police manager.

In a similar incident, 11 people were injured after their vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a ditch due to complicated roads in a mountainous region of Doab district, eastern Nuristan province.

Road accidents are common in Afghanistan due to poor road conditions, reckless driving, challenging terrains, overloading, overtaking and speeding. Enditem
