MOSCOW, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Moscow and Washington intend to work toward gradually normalizing bilateral ties, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday.
In a telephone call on Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump discussed the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and ways to restore bilateral relations.
"I can say with a high degree of confidence that Presidents Putin and Trump understand each other well, trust each other and intend to gradually move toward normalizing Russian-American relations," Peskov said.
Meanwhile, the spokesman noted that restoring Russia-U.S. ties would require time, effort, and the commitment of both presidents.
Peskov added that no date has been set for future contact with the U.S. side, although discussions are expected to cover a wide range of issues. Enditem
