MANILA, March 20 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine creative economy expanded by 8.7 percent in 2024 to 1.94 trillion pesos (roughly 33.9 billion U.S. dollars), accounting for 7.3 percent of the country's gross domestic product, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said Thursday.
Of the creative industries, the PSA said symbols, images, and other related activities accounted for the largest share at 33 percent, or 640.29 billion pesos (11 billion U.S. dollars), of the total creative economy in 2024.
Advertising, research and development, and other artistic service activities came second, with a 21.4 percent share, followed by digital interactive goods and service activities, with a 20.6 percent share, according to the PSA.
It added that employment in creative industries increased to 7.51 million in 2024, 3.9 percent higher than in 2023. The share of employment in creative industries to the total employment in the country was at 15.4 percent in 2024. Enditem
