GAZA, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Hamas announced on Thursday that it is continuing negotiations with mediators to reach a ceasefire agreement.
In a press statement, Hamas spokesman Abdul Latif al-Qanou reaffirmed Hamas' commitment to ending the war and securing the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.
He warned that the ongoing blockade and worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza demand urgent intervention from the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
"The blockade of Gaza, the starvation of its population, and the ongoing war of extermination require immediate intervention to prevent further catastrophe and lift the blockade," he said.
Al-Qanou also called on the international community and mediators to exert pressure on Israel to halt its "aggressive plans" and comply with any ceasefire agreement. Enditem
