JERUSALEM, March 20 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli military on Thursday warned residents of Bani Suhaila in southern Gaza to evacuate ahead of an imminent strike, after rockets were fired from the area toward Israel.
"To all residents of the Gaza Strip located in Bani Suhaila, this is a final warning before the raid!" Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee wrote on the platform X.
Bani Suhaila, east of Khan Younis, is one of the largest towns in the Khan Younis Governorate.
Adraee said the planned strike was in response to rocket fire from the area by militant groups. "For your safety, you must move immediately west to known shelters," he added.
Earlier Thursday, Hamas said it had fired three rockets toward Tel Aviv. The Israeli military said one was intercepted, while the others landed in open areas. No injuries or damage were reported.
The rocket attack came hours after Israeli forces launched ground operations in northern Gaza and resumed bombardments that, according to Gaza health officials, killed at least 95 people and wounded dozens on Thursday.
Israel resumed airstrikes on Gaza on Tuesday, ending a ceasefire in place since Jan. 19, saying the renewed campaign was aimed at targeting Hamas militants.
The health authorities in Gaza also said that 506 Palestinians, including 200 children, have been killed and 909 injured in the Strip since Tuesday. Enditem
