JERUSALEM/GAZA -- The Israeli military said on Thursday its troops were expanding their ground operation in southern Gaza, advancing into the Shabura refugee camp in Rafah city.

JERUSALEM -- The Israeli Air Force intercepted a missile launched from Yemen on Thursday evening, said the Israeli military.
"Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in a number of areas, a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted by the Air Force before crossing into Israeli territory," the Israeli military said in a statement, adding that the sirens sounded "in accordance with protocol." ANKARA -- Turkish authorities have detained 37 people for allegedly posting "provocative" content on social media following the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Thursday.
Officials identified 261 social media accounts, including 62 operated from abroad, that allegedly shared posts inciting crime and hatred in response to Imamoglu's detention, Yerlikaya said on the platform X. BEIRUT -- Gunfire and shelling from Syrian territory hit the Lebanese border town of Hosh Al-Sayyid Ali on Thursday during a local funeral, Lebanon's state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported, amid rising regional tensions.
The attack originated from Syria's Al-Qusayr countryside and struck areas north of Hermel, near Lebanon's eastern border, according to the NNA.
