BUENOS AIRES, March 20 (Xinhua) -- The General Confederation of Labor of Argentina announced Thursday that it will hold a general strike on April 10 in rejection of the policies of the government headed by President Javier Milei.
Union leader Hector Daer questioned the public policies of the current administration, repudiated "the government's repression of social protest" and demanded "that public works be reopened."
Daer also denied receiving calls from the executive branch to cancel the protest.
Presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni said during a press conference that the strike would not achieve its intended goal of altering government policy.
