YANGON, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized 4.4 kg of heroin in northern Myanmar's Kachin state, according to a statement from the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) on Friday.

Acting on a tipoff, anti-narcotics police searched a vehicle in Mohnyin township of Kachin state on Wednesday and confiscated the drugs along with two suspects, the statement said.

The seized drugs had a street value of 110 million kyats (about 52,380 U.S. dollars), it said.

The suspects have been charged under the Southeast Asian country's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigations were underway, it added. Enditem
