TEHRAN, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Iran and the United Arab Emirates on Friday exchanged views on the latest round of Israeli strikes on Gaza and fresh U.S. airstrikes on Yemen, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, speaking by phone with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, condemned what he called Israeli "crimes in Gaza" for violating the ceasefire agreement with Hamas.

He also criticized the U.S. for its military operations in Yemen, which he said had resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians and extensive damage to vital infrastructure.

Araghchi warned that "inaction" of the international community could escalate regional insecurity and called on regional and Islamic states to take immediate collective action.

The UAE foreign minister, according to the Iranian statement, described the situation in West Asia as "very worrying" and stressed the need for ongoing consultations among regional countries to prevent further escalation. Enditem
