YANGON, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar opened a youth center in Thakayta township of Yangon region on Sunday to mark the 80th anniversary of Armed Forces Day, state-run newspaper The Mirror reported on Monday.
According to the report, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Jeng Phang Naw Taung and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein inaugurated the center by unveiling its signboard at the press of a button.
The youth center features a library, an internet room, a meeting room, a training room, an art room, a multipurpose hall, and a sports hall, the report said.
Speaking at the event, the union minister said this is the first youth center established by the Yangon Region Youth Affairs Committee in the regions and states, it said.
He also emphasized the need to create a practical system for ministries, UN organizations, social groups, community-based organizations, and youth groups to connect and collaborate, the report said.
He also said that efforts are ongoing to establish more youth centers in the regions and states across the country, it added. Enditem
