BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Brunei has recorded a 9.62 percent drop in tuberculosis cases whereby 235 cases were reported in 2024, compared to 260 cases in 2023, a government minister said on Monday.
To reduce tuberculosis in the country, the Ministry of Health focuses on various strategies and action plans to control the infectious disease, Minister of Health Haji Mohd Isham Jaafar said on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day 2025.
Among the steps include strengthening tuberculosis surveillance, guideline improvements in the country in collaboration with World Health Organization experts, and enhancing public awareness, especially among healthcare professionals.
The ministry continues to facilitate access, becoming more customer-friendly and strengthening cooperation with various parties, and hopes that such disease will not become infectious among the community in the future through the support from the society and professionals, the minister said.
