CAIRO -- Egypt has presented a new proposal to Israel and Hamas aimed at restoring the Gaza ceasefire deal, two informed Egyptian security sources told Xinhua on Monday.

"Egypt sent an urgent proposal on Sunday night to the warring sides for ending the war and resuming negotiations on the second stage of the preliminary ceasefire deal," revealed the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity. (Egypt-Gaza Ceasefire)

RIYADH -- U.S. and Russian delegations began a new round of talks in Saudi Arabia on Monday, eyeing a Ukraine settlement and Black Sea ceasefire deal before securing a broader agreement.

The talks follow a meeting between the United States and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia on Sunday. Last week, Trump held phone talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. (US-Russia-Talk)

TALUQAN, Afghanistan -- Two gold miners lost their lives after a tunnel of the mine caved in northern Afghanistan's Takhar province on Sunday, the director of the public relations office of provincial police said Monday.

The miners were busy extracting gold from a mine in Khwaja Ghar district when a tunnel caved in, killing two on the spot, the official said, adding the police personnel reached the site of the incident and after recovery of the bodies handed them over to their families.
