GENEVA, March 24 (Xinhua) -- The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) reported on Monday that its office in Rafah in the Gaza Strip was hit by "an explosive projectile," causing damage to the facility, though no casualties were reported.
The ICRC strongly condemned the attack in a statement, noting that "despite being clearly marked and notified to all parties," the facility was still attacked, directly undermining the ICRC's operational capacity. The incident took place on Monday.
The ICRC also mentioned that contact was lost with emergency medical technicians from the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) on Sunday and their whereabouts remain unknown. Additionally, humanitarian workers in Gaza suffered casualties last week.
It highlighted that the escalation of hostilities in Gaza over the past week has had "significant humanitarian impacts," with hundreds of civilians killed and many displaced, while supplies of food and safe water continue to dwindle.
Medical facilities, including the Red Cross Field Hospital in Rafah, "are now also responding to mass casualty incidents," it said. Enditem
