MADRID, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid's Turkish international midfielder Arda Guler has vowed to stay and fight for a regular starting place after struggling with playing time he needs in his first two seasons at the club.
The 20-year-old joined the Spanish giants at the start of the 2023-24 season, but although impressing in his brief opportunities, injury partly restricted him to just over 400 minutes football in all competitions.
This season has seen him play 642 minutes in La Liga, as well as starting in Madrid's Copa del Rey campaign, but he is still behind players such as Jude Bellingham and Brahim Diaz in the pecking order.
In an interview with Spanish sports paper 'Diario Marca' Guler was asked whether he would consider leaving Real Madrid in the summer to try and play more often, but he insisted his aim was to triumph in the Santiago Bernabeu.
"Real Madrid gave me a plan, and I still believe in it. I'm sure I'll succeed at Real Madrid," said the midfielder.
Guler explained he was so confident that he had also "bought a house in Madrid. I work very hard and I'm always ready to play," he added.
"I came to Real Madrid to play and be an important part of this team. And I won't stop fighting until I achieve that," he concluded. Enditem
