CAIRO, March 25 (Xinhua) -- The Egyptian Space Agency (EgSA) has signed a strategic cooperation protocol with Egypt-based private company AQMAAR to boost local satellite manufacturing and space sector development, EgSA said in a statement on Tuesday.
The protocol, signed on Monday, aims to enhance collaboration in the production of satellites and their components in Egypt, while utilizing EgSA's advanced infrastructure for the environmental, mechanical, and electrical testing of satellites, according to the statement.
EgSA CEO Sherif Sedky and AQMAAR CEO Ahmed Nassar attended the signing ceremony of the protocol, which EgSA said marked "a new model of integration between Egyptian research institutions and technology companies in the space field."
The protocol also covers cooperation in satellite operations, the exchange of scientific and technical expertise, and the allocation of frequencies for satellite communication.
The partnership supports AQMAAR's ambition to develop and manufacture satellite constellations for Internet of Things services, telecommunications, and Earth imaging, the statement noted. Enditem
