MINSK, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko named national interests and the security of the country and people his top priorities during his 7th presidential term.
Assuming the office of head of state on Tuesday, Lukashenko said at his inaugural speech that "Belarusians are peaceful people, and Belarus is a peace-loving country. We are for a just peace and the solution of any problems through dialogue."
Entering a new historical period, Belarus relies on a time-tested development strategy, Lukashenko said, adding that the general direction of movement is tradition, hard work, technology. He believes that all this should provide a higher quality of life for every Belarusian.
The president also promised to maintain a socially oriented economic model and continue the fight against bureaucracy and corruption.
In the presidential elections in January 2025, Lukashenko collected 86.82 percent of votes. Enditem
