TASHKENT, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Up to 1.3 million foreign tourists visited Uzbekistan in the first two months of this year, marking a 37.1 percent increase compared to the same period last year, Uzbekistan's National Statistics Committee said on Wednesday.

The statistics body said the largest share of tourist arrivals came from Kyrgyzstan, with 422,591 visitors. Tajikistan and Kazakhstan followed, with 401,377 and 199,048 visitors, respectively.

Uzbekistan has been exploring its tourism potential and has developed new historical routes to attract domestic and foreign tourists, the country's Tourism Committee said last year. Enditem
