DAR ES SALAAM, March 26 (Xinhua) -- The World Food Program (WFP) has reported that 171 Congolese refugees have fled to Tanzania since early 2025 due to the humanitarian crisis in North Kivu Province, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The WFP said on Tuesday that the influx of Congolese refugees is expected to rise due to the ongoing fighting between the DRC armed forces and the March 23 Movement rebel group.
While the numbers remain low, the WFP and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees have developed a contingency plan that aligns with the trends in Burundi, Rwanda, and Uganda. Enditem
