BISHKEK, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan ratified the agreement on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. The corresponding law was signed by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov on Tuesday, his press service reported.
The report said that the law was developed and adopted to determine the line of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border and to carry out domestic procedures for the recognition and ratification of the above-mentioned agreement.
The creation of a contractual and legal framework between the two countries along the state border is aimed at ensuring stability and security, creating favorable conditions for citizens of both states, especially in the border regions, and will also contribute to further effective socio-economic and humanitarian cooperation, it said.
In addition, Japarov signed laws on the ratification of two agreements with Tajikistan: on ensuring access to water and energy facilities and on the construction and use of roads, the arrangement and use of an intersection of roads.
The first agreement provides for unimpeded access to energy facilities located on the territory of the states and joint operation of the head dam with three gates and the head water intake structure of the Ak-Tatyr/Machoi canal.
The second agreement provides for unimpeded movement of citizens, passage of vehicles and transportation of goods between the states. The agreement provides for construction of two highways, which will receive a neutral status from the moment the agreement comes into force. At the same time, joint development and use of the Osh-Razzakov and Isfara-Vorukh highway intersection is proposed, which will acquire a neutral status and be used by the states on equal terms.
The agreements were signed on March 13 in Bishkek during the state visit of President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to Kyrgyzstan. Enditem
