AMMAN, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi met Wednesday with German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser and Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner, renewing calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Jordan and both Germany and Austria, as well as cooperation within the strategic partnership with the European Union, according to a statement from the ministry. Discussions also included joint coordination on regional developments.
Safadi emphasized the urgent need for collective efforts to immediately end Israeli military operations on Gaza, ensure a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire, and open border crossings to facilitate humanitarian aid delivery across the Strip.
The talks also addressed the situation in Syria, with an emphasis on supporting the Syrian people in rebuilding their country through a Syrian-led political process that guarantees Syria's unity, security, stability, and sovereignty while eliminating terrorism and safeguarding the rights of all Syrians.
Safadi highlighted the importance of ongoing assistance for refugees, host countries, and humanitarian organizations, alongside intensified efforts to create conditions for their voluntary return.
For their part, Faeser and Karner praised Jordan's role and the efforts led by King Abdullah II in promoting security, stability, and peace in the region. Enditem
