KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's Producer Price Index (PPI), which measures price changes at the producer level, recorded a year-on-year increase of 0.3 percent in February, easing from the 0.8 percent rise registered in January, official data showed Thursday.

The moderated increase was influenced by continued expansion in the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector, despite a decline in the mining sector, the Department of Statistics Malaysia said in a statement.

The agriculture, forestry and fishing sector remained the primary driver of PPI for local production, recording a 15.2 percent increase year-on-year.

However, the mining sector continued to contract, registering a decline of 9.7 percent.

The manufacturing sector recorded a marginal decline of 0.3 percent.

On a month-on-month basis, PPI for local production recorded a slight increase of 0.1 percent in February, easing from 0.3 percent in January. Enditem
