Laos, Thailand strengthen cooperation to combat transnational crimes

VIENTIANE, March 27 (Xinhua) -- The eighth Lao-Thai Joint Committee Meeting on the Police Cooperation kicked off in Lao capital Vientiane, focusing on enhancing police collaboration, particularly in preventing and combating transnational crimes.

The meeting on Thursday provided a platform for delegations from Laos and Thailand to discuss, exchange opinions, and share lessons learned in preventing and combating crime, according to the Lao Security News report on Thursday.

The discussions focused on addressing transnational crimes, including drug trafficking, terrorism, human trafficking, illegal wildlife trade, and cybercrime.

Both delegations agreed to strengthen cooperation through existing mechanisms like the Border Liaison Offices and diplomatic missions to ensure timely and coordinated crime prevention efforts.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of this partnership in fostering strong relations and achieving greater success in combating crime.

Additionally, both sides signed the minutes of the eighth Joint Committee on Police Cooperation, solidifying their commitment to strengthened collaboration in safeguarding regional security. Enditem
