TEHRAN, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Iran held a large naval parade on Thursday in both its northern and southern waters to show support for the Palestinian people, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.
The event, which featured 3,000 vessels, including those from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy and the Basij volunteer force, took place ahead of the annual International Quds Day.
The day, established by Iran in 1979 to express solidarity with Palestinians, is marked on the final Friday of Ramadan, which falls on March 28 this year.
The IRGC Navy's Commander, Alireza Tangsiri, said the parade covered 13 locations, spanning the Gulf, Makran coast, and the Caspian Sea.
Tangsiri also noted that vessels from countries allied with Iran, including Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen, participated in the parade, signaling support for the resistance front. He described the event as a display of naval strength and a message to Israel.
Among the vessels that participated were the IRGC Navy's Shahid Bagheri drone carrier, the Raees Ali Delvari warship, and the Tareq-class missile-launching speedboat, according to official news agency IRNA. Enditem
