CAIRO -- Six Russians were killed, and 39 other foreigners were rescued on Thursday when a tourist submarine sank off Egypt's Red Sea resort city of Hurghada, according to a statement by the Red Sea Governorate on its official Facebook page.

The submarine carried 45 foreigners from India, Russia, Norway, and Sweden and five Egyptian crew members, the statement said. (Egypt-Submarine Sinking-Casualty)

JERUSALEM/SANAA -- The Israeli military said Thursday that its air defense systems intercepted two missiles launched by militants in Yemen.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing explosions in Jerusalem. Police said air raid sirens were activated in central Israel, including Tel Aviv, as well as in the Jerusalem area and several settlements in the occupied West Bank. (Israel-Houthis-Missile Attack)

JERUSALEM -- The Israeli military confirmed on Thursday that it killed Hamas spokesperson Abdul Latif al-Qanou in an overnight airstrike in northern Gaza.

In a statement, the military described al-Qanou as "one of Hamas' key inciters," accusing him of using media platforms for propaganda, psychological terror, and spreading false information about Hamas' activities both within and outside Gaza. (Israel-Gaza-Hamas Official Death)

CAIRO -- Egypt received on Thursday positive signals from the Israeli side on Cairo's recent proposal to release five Israeli hostages from Hamas captivity every week and implement a 40-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, two informed security sources told Xinhua.
