SINGAPORE, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Singapore has launched an unmanned aircraft pilot training program for maritime operations, aiming to train over 20 drone pilots annually for the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA).

The five-year collaboration between the MPA and Republic Polytechnic was announced on Friday during the Singapore Maritime Week 2025, with both parties signing a memorandum of understanding.

The program will support various maritime operations, including vessel structure inspections, emissions monitoring and emergency response efforts.

In 2025, the MPA plans to trial new drone capabilities, such as coordinated drone operations for chemical spill management. Enditem
