KABUL, March 28 (Xinhua) -- The construction of a water supply project has been completed and implemented in western Afghanistan's Farah province, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported Friday.

Built at a cost of nearly 6 million afghani (about 84,507 USD), the network is planned to benefit 300 families in Khaki Safed district of Farah province, the report added.

Additionally, it will assist farmers in irrigating hundreds of acres of land in the area, the report said.

Afghanistan has been suffering from droughts for years, and the residents of big cities, including the capital city of Kabul, have faced extreme shortages of drinking water over the past couple of years. Enditem
