NAIROBI, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese firm Fullcare Medical on Friday partnered with Kenya's State Department for Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to offer training and employment to the sector's graduates.
Esther Thaara Muoria, principal secretary in the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, said the collaboration has given opportunities to fashion and design students.
Muoria said the Chinese firm has enrolled 50 graduates in fashion and design from three different technical institutions.
"We are flexible as we work with Fullcare Kenya Limited and our curriculum developers in rolling out training programs that are tailor-made for the industry," Muoria said in a statement issued in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.
She added that the opportunities by Fullcare Medical Ltd. are helping solve skills mismatch in the sector, where many institutions have failed to get people with the right training.
FullCare Medical is based at Tatu City, a 5,000-acre mixed-use Special Economic Zone on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya. The Chinese firm launched a new medical garment production facility in March 2024 as part of its 30 million U.S. dollar investment in Kenya.
Bright Jiang, the general manager at Fullcare Medical Ltd, said the company would soon seek local individuals with other skill sets, such as quality control, equipment technicians, and lab technologists. Enditem
