OTTAWA, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Friday spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump about the relationship between the two countries.
According to an information release issued by the prime minister's office, the leaders agreed to begin comprehensive negotiations about a new economic and security relationship immediately following Canada's general election scheduled for April 28.
Carney told Trump that the Canadian government will implement retaliatory tariffs to protect Canadian workers and its economy, following the announcement of additional U.S. trade actions on April 2. Enditem
