KABUL, March 29 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan authorities have released 2,463 prisoners on the eve of Eid al-Fitr, one of the most important festivals for Muslims, the local media Tolo News reported on Saturday.
The prisoners were freed based on the decree of the interim government's supreme leader Mawlawi Hibatullah Akhundzada, and the prisoners, who had relatively mild cases, were released from prisons in Afghanistan's 34 provinces, the report said.
Afghanistan will celebrate Eid al-Fitr after the announcement of the Supreme Court based on the sighting of the crescent moon on the 29th day of Ramadan. Enditem
