NUUK, Greenland -- Hundreds of demonstrators in Denmark's capital Copenhagen and the city of Aarhus voiced strong opposition on Saturday to recent remarks and actions by the U.S. administration regarding Greenland.

The demonstration took place a day after U.S. Vice President JD Vance and an American delegation visited Pituffik Space Base in northwest Greenland -- formerly known as Thule Base -- where Vance criticized Denmark for not doing enough for security in the Arctic or for the well-being of the Greenlandic people. BEIRUT -- Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa announced the formation of a "transitional government" on Saturday in the Syrian capital of Damascus.

The new cabinet retains key figures from the interim leadership. Asaad Hassan al-Shibani, previously interim chief of foreign affairs authority, was appointed foreign minister, while former intelligence chief Anas Khattab was named interior minister. Marhaf Abu Qusra, who oversaw defense affairs in the interim administration, will serve as defense minister. (Syria-Interim government-Formation)

OSLO -- Four people were injured in a knife attack in Trondheim, Norway, local media reported on Saturday.

Police confirmed the attacker acted alone and is now in custody. The area was sealed off as the investigation continues. (Norway-Knife attack)

HANOVER, Germany -- A fire broke out at a nursing home in Hanover, Germany, resulting in injuries to around 50 people, police said on Saturday.

According to German newspaper Bild, three individuals sustained serious injuries in the blaze. The fire was detected by nursing staff in a room of the care facility. (Germany-Nursing home fire) Enditem
