KABUL, March 31 (Xinhua) -- A total of 53 former government officials have returned to their homeland Afghanistan in the past five months through the efforts of the Commission of Liaison and Repatriation of Afghan Personalities, the spokesman for the commission reported late Sunday.
Since April 2022, the commission has facilitated the return of about 1,061 high-ranking former officials, including ministers, governors and parliament members, local media outlet Ariana News quoted Ahmadullah Wasiq, spokesman for the commission, as saying.
Meanwhile, acting Deputy Prime Minister Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi recently urged Afghans to return to their homeland and live in peace and unity rather than staying abroad.
The Afghan interim government has formed the commission to help Afghan migrants who left the country after the change of government in August 2021 to return to their homeland. Enditem
