Lao leadership families donate aid for Myanmar earthquake relief

VIENTIANE, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Families of the Lao government and Lao People's Revolutionary Party, led by Naly Sisoulith, the spouse of Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith, on Tuesday donated financial aid and supplies to support Myanmar's earthquake relief efforts.

The donation was channeled through the Lao Ministry of National Defense to support Myanmar and was received by Somphone Mittaphone, head of the ministry's office, along with his delegation.

The donation included 828 million Lao kip (some 38,600 U.S. dollars) in cash and consumer goods valued at 150 million Lao kip (some 7,000 U.S. dollars), according to Socio-Economic News on Tuesday.

In his speech, Somphone emphasized that this gesture reflects the strong and historic friendship between Laos and Myanmar. Enditem
