U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, April 1 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar climbed in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, increased by 0.05 percent to 104.260 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.0787 U.S. dollars from 1.0807 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.2910 U.S. dollars from 1.2917 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 149.40 Japanese yen, lower than 149.43 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was up to 0.8840 Swiss francs from 0.8822 Swiss francs, and it was down to 1.4336 Canadian dollars from 1.4385 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar increased to 10.0208 Swedish kronor from 10.0130 Swedish kronor. Enditem
