MEXICO CITY, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Mexico does not have biometric data on migrants, President Claudia Sheinbaum said Tuesday in response to the U.S. request to share the information as part of cooperation on border security.
"We don't have that biometric data," Sheinbaum said at a regular morning press conference.
However, talks with the United States are ongoing within the framework of cooperation and with respect for national sovereignty, she added.
In an interview with Fox News, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said that during her meeting with Sheinbaum in February, she gave her "a list of things that President Donald Trump would love to see," including sharing migrants' biometric data with the United States and stricter monitoring of Mexico's southern border.
