RIO DE JANEIRO, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Racing completed an impressive night for Argentine clubs with a 3-0 away win over Brazilian side Fortaleza in their Copa Libertadores group stage opener on Tuesday.
Maximiliano Salas gave Racing an early lead before Agustin Almendra and Santiago Sosa added second-half goals at the Castelao stadium in northeastern Brazil.
Earlier, fellow Argentine side Estudiantes eased to a 2-0 victory over Carabobo in Venezuela thanks to goals from Santiago Nunez and Santiago Ascacibar either side of halftime.
The host was forced to play the last half hour with only 10 men after Edson Tortolero was shown a straight red card for a rash challenge on Lucas Piovi.
In Asuncion, Argentine striker Jonathan Torres scored a hat-trick as Paraguay's Cerro Porteno won 4-2 at home to Bolivar of Bolivia. Jorge Morel was also on target for the host while Ramiro Vaca netted twice for Bolivar.
Meanwhile, Chile's Colo-Colo recovered from two goals down to earn a 3-3 away draw with Colombian outfit Atletico Bucaramanga. Marcelo Correa scored twice for Colo-Colo while Mauricio Isla was also on target for the visitor.
Kevin Londono, Luciano Pons and Carlos Henao were on the scoresheet for Atletico Bucaramanga. Enditem
