VIENTIANE, April 2 (Xinhua) -- The Lao government and the United Nations (UN) launched the 2024 annual results report, highlighting progress under the Laos-UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2022-2026 and reaffirming their commitment to accelerating sustainable development and building resilience.
The report, launched at the Joint Steering Committee meeting, compiles the efforts of UN agencies, funds, and programs, aligning with the ninth National Socio-economic Development Plan, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and National SDG 18.
The meeting, held here on Wednesday, brought together representatives from key ministries and UN agencies, according to Lao National Radio.
Discussions focused on achievements and priorities in four strategic areas, including people's well-being, inclusive prosperity, governance, and environmental resilience.
The 2024 annual results report highlights progress in sustainable agriculture, education, and climate resilience. Key successes include the expansion of digital learning in remote areas, improved access to water and sanitation, and continued support for survivors of gender-based violence.
The meeting also emphasized the need for increased collaboration, greater coherence, and improved efficiencies in 2025.
