VIENTIANE, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Laos' Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare will send more workers to South Korea for seasonal agricultural work, aiming to support the Lao agricultural sector by helping workers gain valuable skills and knowledge to apply upon their return.
The Lao government is focused on improving agricultural productivity and providing rural workers with access to skills development and modern technology, according to the ministry's report on Wednesday.
Sending Lao workers to South Korea will provide them with valuable skills and experience, which they can apply upon their return to support Laos' agricultural sector and overall socio-economic development. In return, South Korea will benefit by addressing labor shortages.
Since 2022, the ministry has signed seasonal labor dispatch agreements with 73 cities and two provinces in South Korea, sending over 8,000 Lao workers for seasonal work, with more than 40 percent of them being female. Enditem
