TASHKENT, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev called Central Asia-European Union (EU) cooperation a unique platform that promotes interaction, the presidential press service said Wednesday.
The press service further said that Mirziyoyev gave an exclusive interview to Euronews on the eve of the first Central Asia-EU summit.
"Our partnership with the European Union is a two-way relationship from which both sides should benefit," Mirziyoyev said.
The press service noted that cooperation with the EU spans a broad spectrum -- including economy, investment, sustainable development, security and digital transformation -- and is based on shared long-term strategic priorities.
"Today, the EU is consistently developing trade and investment ties with the Central Asian states. Over the past seven years, the trade turnover between Central Asian countries and the EU has quadrupled, amounting to 54 billion euros (58.31 U.S. dollars)," the press service said.
The first Central Asia-EU summit will be held on April 3-4 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Enditem
