TOKYO, April 2 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.0 struck off the eastern coast of Japan's Osumi Peninsula on Wednesday, said the country's weather agency.
The temblor occurred at around 11:04 p.m. local time at a depth of 40 km, measuring 4 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in the southern part of Miyazaki Prefecture, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
The epicenter was located at a latitude of 31.0 degrees north and a longitude of 131.5 degrees east.
There was no tsunami warning issued as a result of this temblor, the JMA added.
Osumi Peninsula is on the southwestern main island of Kyushu. Enditem
