SEOUL, April 3 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's imported car sales slightly fell in March amid strong demand for German luxury models, industry data showed Thursday.
The number of imported vehicles sold here slipped 0.1 percent over the year to 25,229 in March, according to the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association.
For the first three months of this year, 60,657 foreign vehicles were sold domestically, up 11.1 percent compared to the same period of 2024.
German carmaker Mercedes-Benz ranked first in terms of automotive sales here among foreign companies by selling 6,762 units in March.
Another German carmaker BMW came next with the sale of 6,378 units, followed by U.S. automaker Tesla with 2,591 units, Volvo with 1,424 units and Lexus with 1,414 units.
The number of European models sold here came to 18,988 in March, accounting for 75.3 percent of the total, while the U.S. and Japanese brands recorded the market shares of 14.1 percent and 10.6 percent each. Enditem
