KABUL, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The reconstruction of 31 school buildings has been completed in east Afghanistan's Laghman province, the state-owned Bakhtar news agency reported Thursday.
The buildings have been rebuilt at a cost of 15.4 million afghani (about 217,000 U.S. dollars) with financial support from domestic and partner organizations, Mawlawi Shah Sajid, provincial director of education, was quoted as saying.
According to official statistics released last November, 125 school buildings have been constructed worth nearly 18 million dollars funded by aid organizations and wealthy individuals across the war-stricken country.
About 11 million children are currently attending state-owned and private schools in the country. Enditem
