VIENTIANE, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The 16th annual Lao Business Forum was held in the capital Vientiane on Thursday, reaffirming the Lao government's commitment to promote open dialogue between the public and private sectors to improve the business environment in Laos.
In his remarks, Lao Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith stressed the importance of private sector development in achieving Laos' National Socio-economic Development Plan.
He also underscored the need for ongoing improvements in government policies to create a more favorable business climate, which would support economic growth and poverty reduction.
Meanwhile, he reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthen the market economy, improve public services, and remove obstacles to business development.
During the meeting, the participants praised the government's efforts to make the business environment more efficient, citing achievements such as reduced startup time and costs, introduction of an electronic business registration system, simplified taxation for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, and improved access to trade laws and regulations.
