VIENTIANE, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The Lao Ministry of Education and Sports is conducting a basic Lao language proficiency assessment from March to April as part of the Inclusive Teaching and Learning Evaluative Study, an official report said Thursday.
The study, running from 2024 to 2026, aims to identify effective teaching strategies for supporting all students, particularly those facing disadvantages, according to the ministry's report.
It will involve students from 120 schools across 30 districts in seven provinces of Phongsaly, Luang Namtha, Bokeo, Huaphan, Xieng khuang, Khammuan, and Savannakhet.
The students selected for the study face challenges such as speaking a non-Lao language at home, having disabilities, or experiencing low school attendance. These factors have been linked to lower academic performance in national assessments.
The language assessment aims to identify effective teaching methods for these students, helping to develop tailored educational strategies that meet their unique needs.
The study is part of a longitudinal effort to track the students' progress over time and determine which teaching methods support their learning most effectively. Enditem
