WINDHOEK, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Namibia's new Minister of International Relations and Trade Selma Ashipala-Musavyi has pledged to enhance the country's economic diplomacy and expand its global trade footprint in key sectors such as agriculture, mining, renewable energy, and services.
Speaking at a staff meeting on Thursday, Ashipala-Musavyi emphasized the importance of leveraging regional trade agreements, particularly the African Continental Free Trade Area, to boost Namibia's economic growth.
"Our collective mission is clear: to advance Namibia's international relations while fostering economic and trade partnerships that drive sustained economic growth and sustainable development," she said.
The minister highlighted other priority sectors for trade expansion, including logistics, finance, and communications, urging diplomats and trade attaches to actively secure market access for Namibian goods and services.
Ashipala-Musavyi also outlined plans to strengthen the ministry's legal and communication functions to ensure that Namibia's positions are effectively represented on international platforms.
She reaffirmed the government's commitment to improving service delivery, particularly in rural areas, and called on ministry staff to work collaboratively to achieve Namibia's economic and diplomatic goals. Enditem
