LUSAKA, April 3 (Xinhua) -- A meeting of the least developed countries (LDCs) concluded on Thursday in the Zambian capital of Lusaka, with a call to build a strong foundation for strengthening resilience among the countries.
Themed "Enhancing Resilience: Innovative Solutions for Strengthening LDCs Against Systemic Shocks," the third edition of the LDC Future Forum brought together about 250 participants from more than 50 countries, including policymakers, researchers, business leaders, and development partners.
Rabab Fatima, United Nations under secretary-general and high representative for the LDCs, landlocked developing countries and small island developing states, said at the close of the meeting that resilience is no longer optional for LDCs.
She emphasized the need to leverage technology to harness the untapped natural resources in the countries.
Prudence Kaoma, permanent secretary for planning and administration in Zambia's Ministry of Finance and National Planning, commended the meeting for shaping the future of the LDCs by exploring innovative strategies for recovery during crises.
